Y'know - "perspective" was mentioned on the thread regarding not encouraging people to climb Silbury due to the potential wear and tear of hundreds of thousands - or even millions - of people walking on it.

I think the perspective has been slightly skewed here, as well.

I wasn't aware that the problem was to do with loads of people causing Stonehenge to fall over, but to do with the erosion caused by said millions of visitors a year climbing on the stones!

Some of the stones (one in particular I can think of, but don't recall it's name/number offhand) is so smooth, it's difficult to resist the temptation to use it as a slide! I *have* resisted, incidentally, but have witnessed innumerable people using it as such.

So - to me, anyway - it's to do with man-made and avoidable erosion rather than someone inadvertantly pushing them over.
