Seriously though, if you consider the time that it would take to construct a monastery, and then take into account the generations when the fat friars sit ( or is that kneel? ) around ripping off the poor silly sods who think that they'll go to heaven if they make the fat friars EVEN fatter... it's unlikely that they wouldn't have known about a large sculpture with a massive knob carved into the hill overlooking them. Whether from a direct sighting or local knowledge.
