Yes, Jane and what a fascinating programme it was - more please! 17th century Cerne and first clean up at 1694 - I guessed 18th century so I was not too far out. What really impresses me is the artistic flair of the Uffington horse. It has been galloping across the downs for 3000 years and is so alive with energy. The later white horses are pedestrian cart horses in comparison. Very similar stylised horse designs appear on the "Celtic" coins of course. Fantastic sense of motion! Now if Head Heritage/TMA do want a new logo - my first choice would definately be the Uffington horse. Consign Bollocky Bill to the scrapheap! He is just Cromwell sans culottes.
