And here's one that has managed to survive in that category quite quietly - http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/5693 - just if anyone is ever in the vicinity with a camera. It is big - and I mean big - and is lost to antiquarians. Perhaps it was the prehistoric or Iron Age Alston. I wonder what the settlement was called in those days. There's a ceremonial entrance with a track leading up from the river just where it forks to the U. S. Tyne and the Nent. Still salmon in the pool there ...
