Ireland's Arthur is Finn McCool. He sleeps with his army below many a mountain waiting to free Ireland.

Most tombs are fairy mounds, as are many hills, as are many raths (mini ring forts). It's simply a folk memory of what was once there. Many hills have 'shee' in their name and these seem to be prominent ones in the landscape and form focal points for monuments. The one I mentioned has several monuments around it and so obviously stands out in the landscape (despite being amongst many other hills) that I had to ask its name, knowing that it would have one and it would be something special. The area it is in is one of the last Gaelic speaking regions and the families have probably farmed the land for 2000 years.
