No, I don't mean just the Christian meaning; I haven't mentioned Christianity or any other specific religion. Specialness is not the same as religious or sacred. Many things are special to me, nothing is sacred.
My complaint, all along, is that to use 'sacred' in a non-religious context devalues the essence of the word and is confusing.
I'm defending the word from dilution, even though it has no significance to me in a personal sense.
I don't understand why the non-religious see what I mean straight away, whereas those that have religious beliefs tend to disagree. After all, 'sacred' belongs to the religious, not to me. If a hill is special, why not call it a Special Hill? We can all agree on that. We all can't agree on sacredness.
