My first introduction to the whole scene came when I was about 7 and i picked up a Big Chief I Spy book on Archaeology (still have it!) that my elder sister had left lying around and amongst the roman torcs, spearheads and other bemusing photos, was an aerial shot of the White Horse at Uffington. For some largely inexplicable reason, the image struck a chord with me and has fascinated me ever since. Living in Liverpool, I wasnt able to experience prehistory firsthand for some while - except outside a museum - but it began an inevitable and inexorable obsession with the past that has absorbed me ever since.
