Actually, there were a few threats bandied about.

"If i see you round ere with yer blummin old buckets i'll have yer !!!" would be one of them, alongside the now infamous chopping up of Geocachers.

And also the comment about wanting to use the bucket after a long days hike... all meant in good humour, no doubt, but you must agree that all could be misconstrued.

There was also the added sentiment that you all felt so strongly about the activity - if you feel so strongly about it on the forums, would you not do something about it in real life?
