Well if you want stupid, I once got so engrossed on Shovel Down that I left my GPS on a stone and was at Scorhill before I realised. Took me an hour to find it!

For my part I also loathe the practice of leaving tat. It's exactly the same as bears scratching trees and dogs pissing on them - except it's not your territory so leave it alone. How does it go?: "leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but memories"... something like that.

Having said that, I was once at Coldrum and saw a single piece of paper tied to a tree. Perhaps wrong, but curiosity got the better of me. It was a prayer from a woman begging for the heavens to give her a baby. I don't think we can complain about a thing like that... and it was biodegradable.
