Re: To save anyone the trouble....

"If Heritage Action are so hellbent on stopping the Trade in Antiquities, they should target some of the fire they aim at the hobby and aim it at the demand
structure."
Ideally yes. But we have limited resources, our focus is UK and Ireland, and it's pretty logical that our first concern should be the fact that a disproportionate portion of the world trade in antiquities is fuelled by British people pulling British antiquities out of the British archaeological resource. Our concern is not just where it goes however - its the fact it is going, full stop. Once that process is subject to a proper degree of regulation and mitigation perhaps we can move on to other aspects of the chain. Today, the Chinese banned the export of all cultural objects dating from earlier than 1911. Sounds good to me.

"But i would like to see any Liscencing cover right across the board for Detectorist's and Archaeologist's individual or otherwise."
No problem. See the Northern Ireland legislation. You are the first detectorist to publicly come out and say they have no problem with our proposal (other than those who have written to us expressing support - all of them full supporters of the Official Code of Conduct, strangely enough!)
