If recorded items (according to you) have fallen
why can't you understand the many variables that have to be considered?
Firstly an item has to be found ,
search conditions ,weather etc are an unknown factor,
found item has to meet the recording protocol that is in place,
areas to search in the first place are harder to find
with ground disturbance conditions being pencilled into farmers payment schemes,
(nothing devious) just the way things go,
as said earlier FLO's have lot's to get through,
maybe they have plenty of examples of a common artifact,
so aren't in a rush for even more?
It's not fair to blame detectorists per se,or look into this
to try to find wrong doings on our part.
Also re licensing ,I think this would have been well and truly
looked at (pre pas) and found it wasn't viable, and certainly not policeable,
so were happy to embrace the good relations between hobbyists and professionals that are improving daily and go the way of recording.
I used to have a(pipe finders license) years ago,
if need be then I would get another,
but a permit to use a detector is another thing,
and I would fight flat out against it,
the ban that you and your mindset are after
won't happen,and changing your stance (HA)
just goes to show ,they wern't getting their way
so are trying another route.
