I supose the alternative to antler picks was to not do the job at all and look for an easier way to express their beliefs.

The point I'm trying to make throughout this thread refers to BNs original post. Maybe they did it that way because it was difficult.
The same quirk of human behavior that created the great gothic cathedrals or drives folk to climb mountains.
In other words...it's good for the soul
