Maybe the whole point of the exercise was that true faith can make ordinary people perform extra- ordinary feats.
The whole meaning of the exercise maybe - the greater the pain - the greater the faith.
Why build Silbury when you can use a convenient hill top? Why dig a ditch and raise a henge?
Why both ritualising a landscape?
Could it be possible that our ancestors didn't look for the easiest way of getting a stone from A-B
Could it be that the trip was the journey?
