As fascinating as the 'they could have done it easily this way' theories I personally do prefer the 'but they probably struggled for at least some of the building' ideas.

It seems to me that a mix of the two wordls might be more likely. Stones being delivered to a site quickly and simply, but the erection of a monument being a ritual thing involving a whole load of the community.
