The unfinished obelisk remains in the ground because it developed a crack during its extraction. The site has quarry marks were other obelisks had been successfully removed.

The workers village for the building of the Great Pyramids of Giza has recently been excavated and the workers have been shown to have been entirely Egyptian, not Hebrew slaves. The Hebrew bondage in Egypt occured some 2,000 years AFTER the building of these pyramids.
