It'd be harder to get them all pulling in the same direction though;-)

Although it has no direct effect on skeletal muscle, the atropine in A. Muscaria would have a stimulant effect as it supresses the parasympathetic nervous system. I recall a foaf tale about a chap who piled himself full of a herbal asthma cure which contained atropine. He then supposedly went out for a walk, returning later bearing a pavingstone which he had lifted from the path with fingers only.
It's always possible that in the days of the original stone shifters, methods were known to isolate the different components of the agaric, so as to avoid the possible confusion and nausea etc.
