From what I've seen of antler picks they shouldn't be dismissed, they look pretty efficient tools to me, virtually as good as proper picks.
But this is an artificial argument really - no-one could deny that there had to be enormous commitment and probably religious zeal to achieve all these things, it's just that personally I could never imagine doing something the hard way just because a priest said so, though I know some people do. For all we know, they built Silbury on their knees...

Incidentally, the other night I saw pictures of EH trying to pull big blocks of polystyrene up Silbury and they were finding it enormously difficult and called in the helicopter to do it!!
