What was the primary livestock? Pigs by the look of it, cattle next? Dunno, but I really can’t see dogs herding pigs very well nor very far. Questions, questions. It’s pretty certain though that there were great porky fests - I really can’t see a lot of the critters being herded for miles by small family groups or even clans. Another dunno though.

An open stone circle would still need infill between the stones if it really was an enclosure and timber would be the obvious thing to use of course in various forms i.e woven fencing etc.


Absolutely. The infill (between wooden posts or standing stones) would depend on what was available. Dry stone walling if the stone was available, woven fencing etc if not. I’ve seen pics of corrals in Africa where the later is still used.

Take away the infilling though and what have you got left? Bingo! A stone circle ;-)
