actually an awful lot of prehistoric folk did live up in them thar hills, but then the climate deteriorated and almost everyone went downslope at the least - one would argue that they then continued to bury their did on the hilltops as this was their ancestral homeland, much like now people whose ancestors came from (say) Scotland will have their remains sent back to it
