Hi Hotaire,
Your mention of St.Cedd's church at Bradwell on Sea hit a chord ;). We have been a couple of times, its austere, beautiful, in the middle of nowhere on the edge of the estuary, and feels 'northern' in its bleakness. It also has a large stone inside the church in the corner, for what reason I don't know. Founded in 653 ad, Cedd came down by the sea from Iona, and built this place in the entrance of the roman walls there.
Been reading all your fascinating stuff about the 'celtic' saints - keep going ;)............................
