Thanks Mr Crowley, I've done that and will read some of the stuff but it's not new to me. I was reading Colin and Janet Bord about 30+ years ago and had a fascination with possible mystical meanings behind standing stones long before I discovered Julian Cope's work.
But I've also studied archaeology to A level, as a mature student, and I'm impressed with the scientific approach of having a mind that is open but tempered with practicalities.
Science has a future, but traditional beliefs only have a past!
The plans for Glastonbury Abbey in Nigel Pennick's writings show a lot of inter-related dimensions, ratios etc but such precise mathematics would have been essential to design such a massive building and to convey instructions to artisans. The same mathematical approach applies today but doesn't imply magical powers. Perhaps if it did, the millenium bridge wouldn't have wobbled!
