Don't want to sound sceptical, but if all old/ancient sites were built to standard measurements couldn't this be some form of convenient per-fabrication or design procedure within the relevant trade guild? In the absence of literacy, perhaps standard measurements and proportions could more readily have been taught by rote, then be more easily understood by the artisans/labourers eg megalithic yard which may or may not have existed?
