Sorry, that was badly phrased. I didn't mean that one shouldn't look, and despite the impression you may have, I do not rule out any of these ideas. I just reserve judgment until there is evidence that points more strongly it their direction. It's the apparent eagerness to accept such ideas, to embrace them in the absence of real evidence that I am questioning.

I just think there is too much readiness to attribute strange phenomena to the "spirit world" or other unsubstantiated conjectures rather than look for more reasonablel explanations or to accept that for the moment at least we can't explain them.

I don't doubt that FW had an experience that he finds bewildering, but to speculate that the place had recorded and played back this event is as specious as supposing that the farmer had just swallowed a draught of invisibility potion.
