Not saying you're wrong but ...

... if I'd have been walking across a hilltop with a surface that is peat bog with sink holes mixed with stretches of exposed limestone pavement in a daydream it would probably have been me that disappeared :-)

I wasn't watching him constantly as I did have to watch where my feet were going quite a bit and pick out a route toget to where I was going. I would say that until the bird incident I was extremely focused on my surroundings.
