Sure is. I think it's interesting that the guy disappeared while you were distracted. You didn't see him evaporate; you didn't see him fall down; you didn't see him beamed up by an alien space ship.

Have you ever driven along a stretch of road, got to some place and suddenly realised where you were with absolutely no recollection of the journey? It's happened to me and to many other people I have spoken to. Perhaps you were tramping the moor day-dreaming that there was someone there and until the bird distracted you it seemed real enough.

This seems a much more plausible explanation than to suppose the moor was replaying an event from the past, a conjecture for which you have no supporting evidence.
