Not sure if that's actually what you meant :o)

The other side of the coin - the Universities, have seen that a lot of funding is available for projects with a community angle, and have been giving a lot of early doors lip service to wider community involvement. I've not seen much of this translate to the real thing, unless you regard Uni's getting locals to do the field walking for them :o)

I can think of examples where some community involvement has happened, but only in unusual circumstances and usually related to getting the next round of funding.
