Not sure whether that means you accept I meant no harm or not. See, more linguistic/cultural misunderstanding.

I realize, with annoyance, that I'd registered that you had some difficulty with the way we went on, but I'd forgotten. It was when you felt the need to ask whether "Gay Maulers" was acceptable. To everyone here, Straight, Gay and Sheep Fancier (I kid you not!) it was, and damn funny.

In future I'll be careful, obviously, but if anyone else uses terms of abuse you can take it as pretty much a certainty that the more insulting they are then the more likely they are to be in jest. You might still feel affronted to hear them, but it's the way we are.
