Then you need to think of a new word
Jul 03, 2003, 07:05
'co-ordination' implies the combination of two things to form a coherent whole. If you think that the external ties it all together then you need a new world. The landscape is there or all to see, so in fact it's the archaeology that brings the landscape into focus. Maybe.

Personally I think it's the right word but you're reading it incorrectly.

Take a seemingly featureless field system. Can you walk across it and say this is a great spot. I can guarentee that there is an enclosure right there? Nope. You can suggest that it is an ideal place, but until crop marks etc. show it up, you probably wouldn't even consider the spot.

I am not poo-pooing your theories, but stating that it's a two way thing in every sense, except in the case of proto-temples, where a single natural feature, such as a gorsehead, is the focal monument within the broader landscape monument.
