OK. Take a trip to Navan fort .. The Newgrange of the north you might say. It's a big henge with a big mound in the middle. Wow!
Now. Look at the archaeology and learn that beneath the mound is a set of concentric post holes, which formed a structure akin to and bigger than Woodhenge. Then learn that this building was built and enlarged three times and the final time it was burned and the mound built while the charcoaled stumps were still sticking out of the ground.
Sometimes the archaeos can tell you quite a bit. :-)
