Coming back to sites. Yes, they sometimes have a feeling about them, I'm not very good at feeling it or expressing it, but I am aware of it. Again I'm happy to accept that this is my own "thing" and that by telling others about this I'm effectively suggesting how they should feel, so I generally don't mention it, but a good example is a hillfort I visited around 20 times last year, yet hardly spent any time actually in it. Don't ask me why, but even though I'd set out to draw it, or measure it, I always ended up not quite fancying the idea once I got there. If you knew how obsessed with hillforts I am you would know that this point is pretty important.

I feel like I'm harping on about subjects I generally avoid discussing in public. After all, if my methods help me identify serious numbers of new sites, it's the sites that are important, not my concepts.

Probably not made any sense, but you asked for it!
