Yep, that's all documented in Tom Graves' "Needles of Stone" the ebook's here plus links to what he's up to today.

I get reproducible results at sites but I'm really not certain it's water, but there's water and there's water. Try somewhere with a Fulacht Fiadh and dowse the container then the spring, the springs are always much more "lively" even a beginner can feel the difference between them.

I've got what Graves calls a blind spring in the house!
