Plus, PD's "Stone Age Soundtracks" mentions that the bluestones from Preselli (mentioned somewhere in this discussion which I can't find as I'm not used to navigating this site yet!) were used because of their acoustic properties. Apparrently, they ring when struck, PD suggests wood for that, not another stone if you want to have a go. Also, a village at the foot of the Preseli Mountains, the place the bluestones came from, is called Maenclochog which in translation means Ringing Rocks. (source Bernard Fagg in the 1950's.)
It's worthwhile to get Stone Age Soundtracks at the same time you get Places of Power, they're both a great read.
I was lucky enough to be at one of PD's talks last year, do go if you get the chance, it's fascinating hearing him describe a lot of the experiences he's had over the years.
