As to the disjointed nature of paganism I think you are a little misled in your understanding of history and your indoctrination by the church I summise.

Paganism is a collective nown for more than one belief (like Christianity) many of the beliefs that we now understand as Pagan, that of Wicca, Druid etc spent many years surviving as the family aural tradition of a few, hidden for fear of repercussions by the christian church, who thankfully documented some of our practices for us :) .

If you want to understand the present learn you history. For now I refuse to enter a battle of wits with one who comes to war unarmed.
