Whilst having complete sympathy with most of what you say the above is complete bollocks. Even the more disappointing Daily Mail style responses in the thread at no point suggest anybody thinking anything of the sort. I dislike posturing on an important issue. It is a deliberate misreading and misrepresentation.

Even as a comment on the tone of some of the responses it has an air of self pity and of you holding values that are under siege. Vybik made an excellent point about individuals that had actually suffered abuse that, to my shame, I hadn't even considered (abstraction again). Only the comment made by Morrissey is under siege.

I went back to the Singer book. He strongly objects to irresponsible rhetoric...
