I don't doubt that he may have his own egoistic causes behind some of the things he says, but I'm sure his intentions are to point out how topsy-turvy the world is and that, just because it's eponymous and widely-accepted, doesn't make the meat trade any less appalling to him. By comparing meat-eating to an issue which currently sets off moral alarms in anyone who hears of it- part, in thanks, to disproportionate* media scare campaigns- he's attempting to shock people into feeling something akin to what he feels about the meat industry. If he'd explain, clearly and lucidly, his thought processes instead of making easily quotable soundbites, it might be more useful. He may well already do, in fact, and it's only that bolded, underlined, italicised line which we tend to hear about. Sometimes, like with Malcolm X, the best weapon an extreme minority has is overcompensation.



*not in terms of how damaging it is to the victims so much as how it's made the very concept of an adult interacting with a child not their own an eyebrow-raising and unsavoury activity.
