Agree with all that! What people were looking at was,nt each other but the world around them.. thats why hills and mountains are often focussed on. Its their singular shapes within the landscape that draws the eye, and they acquire names for travelling by, the same for rivers. We are so out of touch with nature, growing crops and killing animals, recognising the wildflowers, seasonal migrations we could'nt even make a start on self sufficiency in a temperate climate - maybe Ray Mear but he never bought his wife and children along.....If people did see shapes in trees and rocks, they would probably be frightening ones.
