Yes, but it's shorthand for a certain type of music that appropriated that name.

'Classic Rock'.

"Kerrang!, the world's biggest selling weekly rock magazine."

Etc.

It's not my fault, Mooncat. I swear!

But basically if it's 'rock' without what I perceive to be 'the roll' then I generally think it's shit.
