Success isn't accidental, music either hits a mass nerve or it doesn't - for better or for worse, but it happens for a reason. I have no argument with success. It's as good barometer as any other opinion poll.

However I prefer artists to be candid when it is all about the money. Don't come over all No Logo and Club 57 with me when your strategy is to suck as much cash out of the corporate tit as possible as quickly as possible.

Their US sales have gone from 2.2m to 1.3m to 1m to 900k since OKC.

The Dollar is worth 2/3rd of what it was when OKC was released.

You want to know why they have taken this route then there is your answer - their US income from record sales is just 28% of what it was a decade ago so someone has to be cut out of the chain.

Bye bye record company. For the first million sales at any rate.

Which is fine but don't give me the Bill Hicks spiel when your whole thing is about the marketing.

The template is taken from Damon Hirst not Damo Suzuki. Which is understandable. Taking a whole floor at Claridges makes art for arts sake an expensive business.
