We're not arguing the merits of a new Radiohead record we're arguing what their signifcance is in the great scheme of things. Of course 99% of rock and roll is derivative which is why the claims made on thier behalf are so bogus,
I do say earlier that the album is above average and their best record in four but it's still one grand smoke and mirrors exercise disguising a chronic case of writers block but it's an interesting one none the less. It's not repulsive like his solo album or their attempts at "art music".
That doesn't take away from the idea that they are plagarists and prissy moralists with it. Whether you like Fripp or not does not diminsh the idea that R/head have borrowed from him.
In the same way that buying a guitar and rubbling it between your legs and setting light to it doesn't make you Jimi and running your hands up and down the keys of a grand piano doesn't make you Cecil Taylor.
