Trouble is I have a conviction that every time dowsing for concrete items** is discussed the whole conversation spins off into dowsing for non-concrete energies so what could and should have been demonstrated beyond all question long ago never has been so if it's up to me I'd keep the test focussed solely on the former.

(** IMO "water" isn't a "concrete" item as it's pretty much everywhere or at least has very ill-defined perimeters and the fact water dowsers are almost never willing to admit that very basic truth strikes a get-a-lifer like me as instructive).
