Well (haha) it may come as no surprise to most here that I am a huge fan of wells and springs.

I would be so happy if I were able to prove the antiquity of some of them. I'm convinced that some (there are those whose history can be traced way back to, for example, the 5th or 6th century, or perhaps even earlier) were used in prehistoric times (to me, in my uneducated-in-these-matters way, I don't see how it CAN'T be the case!).

Trouble is - I can't prove it! And am therefore happy to bear the "disputed" logo on any of my wells I've posted until I can!

So. I like wells and am happy for them to be a part of TMA, but fully understand the arguments against. As TMA's remit is only to showcase sites of proven antiquity of certain age, then I for one am happy to go along with that. Otherwise I wouldn't be here!
