thanks for that. yes, and it would be interesting to turn the whole thing round - if there are natural features which feel 'significant' now - nd assuming the oldtimers were similar to us and would have felt that significance too - it would be a good place to start to look for prehistoric remains.

funnily enough - I grew up in Smithillls where the landscape always felt very significant - and now, blow me down with a feather, Stonelifter has discovered all these stone rows and alignments and whatever......
