I agree, for the best, sensibly grounded "sacred", the sacred we feel in our guts, that's written into our DNA as a survival imperative.
The trouble arises when a shaman or a priesthood or worst of all a holy book start adding random and irrelevant bells and whistles to what's sacred, ideas that aren't felt in the guts and are open to interpretation. Being happy to see the sun rise is a sacred imperative. Eating fish on Friday ain't.
