what are the 'Bowden Doors'?

i climbed silbury when i was fifteen with a friend (i'm sorry - i didn't know anything about it then and fences were for climbing) - we lasted about fifteen minutes because we simultaneously and independantly experienced what I would call a 'charge' - hair on end, discomfort, prickling feeling - I wouldn't call it supernatural necessarily...

significance in the landscape is fascinating - an apparent recumbant figure or a face in a stone - but what makes other features feel significant? - quite often it seems it's the fact they are isolated or have a sense that they couldn't have been created by nature alone
