Yeah he has never sold out doing the nostalgia thing but then again I doubt he could have made a living out of Teardrop Explodes reunion or even a greatest hits tour every year. What he has done is to forge a brave & unique path whilst neatly sidestepping the has-been status of so many of his peers i.e he has stayed relevant
