Well, the right wing has no real shame when it comes to abusing their positions of power. The Bush administration hired and fired purely for reasons of ideological loyalty... it was their #1 criteria.

No, harder for them to shake the racism that's boiling over, since they've long tried to at least give the illusion that they are a multi-ethnic party (not multicultural... there's only one legit culture in their mind, their conservative right-wing culture).

I do indeed think that the Republicans are imploding. They are so far out on a limb it's almost breathtaking. Trying, still trying! to paint themselves as the folksy reform-minded Washington outsiders... who the hell buys that crap after 8 years of unfettered influence by the defense and the energy industries?

Today's Republican party is a walking corpse. It cannot claim to be about anything except selling out to manipulative corporations anymore.

It's ironic how the Democrats used to have the representation in the segregated states. The Democratic party grew up and renounced racism and all those unrepentant bigots left for the Republicans in protest. What's lost on many in that 'base', apparently, is that the Republican leadership has never delivered on any of their platform points... the leadership gives lip service to the religious right but are no more pious than any other political predator.
