Put another way; Let's say you had a truckload of genetically modified food and a starving village. Would you deny those people something to eat because of your personal convictions against frankenfood?

This is the same sort of ideological selfishness that helped throw the election to the sharks in the 2000 elections. And then the sharks went on a feeding frenzy and left us holding a gnawed carcass in their wake, where there used to be a solvent economy. They started a war they can't finish, and generally fucked the next generation.

Perhaps some out there who voted for Nader, or didn't vote at all, under the pretext that Democrats and Republicans are interchangeable, are fine with their decision. Takes a mighty egocentric personality to say that one's ideals are more important than the greater good.

It all comes down to an unwillingness to compromise. That's become a dirty word in US politics, especially amongst the right wing... it's seen as weakness.

Strength comes from numbers. A tiny minority of idealistic left wingers does not a majority make.
