It's all a bit hard to appreciate en masse but when you get down to individual creatures it's different: the legislation will mean Anne (who was in a town near me recently and prompted protests, as she always does wherever she goes), 52 years old, arthritic, in captivity for 47 years, the last elephant left in Britain still touring with a circus (Bobby Roberts'), will carry on being shipped from town to town and spending most of her time chained up in fields.


What more do you expect from a tory government? Every element of compassion for animals has to be fought over.. Tories love hunting, not just foxes but stag hunting as well which is also incredibly cruel....

The sad thing about hens is that they are friendly birds and tame, the reason they need so-called 'debeaking' is because they are driven out of their minds amongst thousands of others birds fighting for space.
