Need to look at the tape again Nigel but from memory 'pinkish' is the colour that Mike Pitts thought a newly cut piece of sarsen would look like. It's not such a crazy idea - Cotswold stone is much lighter when first cut so the colour we see in the buildings of Cotswold towns and villages today is much, much darker than it would have been originally.
But, whatever, it's all interesting (and fun) stuff and every new idea is a little bit more information to consider.
