Just got back from Caravan's Newcastle Opera House gig. A good night, spoiled by a lousy attendance (no more than 200 bods - a disgrace) but enlivened by a fine, varied set and the contemporary hard rock edge of guitarist Doug Boyle. Joolio - check 'em out!
Anyways, played this week:
Spooky Tooth 'Spooky Two' - Luther Grosvenor (aka Ariel Bender)'s finest hour - his playing on the epic 'Evil Woman' has to be heard to be believed. And Mike Harrison is one of the great unsung Brit vocalists. '69 gilt-edged classic;
Coldplay 'Live In Sydney' - don't care what you say, I dig this band, derivative as they are. Simply great songs, immaculately delivered;
Iggy 'Raw Power' - ffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkk;
Fotheringay 'Fotheringay' - Sandy Denny's most delicate and tender album, timeless and wonderful;
and, of course, a ton of Caravan in preparation for the aforesaid gig.
Played some Haydn and Beethoven string quartets too.
Live long and prosper
